College Lingual, Inc. began in the summer of 2014 while founders Jemima and Natasha were reflecting back on their undergraduate careers and saw a common thread of unique challenges that many first generation students face. In addition to being the first in their families navigating the American higher education system, they were tasked with the task of assimilating to the American culture while keeping the culture of their parent’s home countries alive. Both Jemima and Natasha are first generation Americans born to immigrant parents. While both of their parents attended school in their home countries, neither parents have obtained a college degree in America.
Through inclusive discussions, meetings, and workshops, College Lingual is a community of parents and students working together for a successful transition from high school into college, both academically and emotionally.
